Less than two miles from downtown Sabinal lies the Sabinal River Ranch. This ranch offers exceptional hunting and recreational opportunities. They layout of the land is perfect for utilizing the 35 acres in totality. The river within the ranch is lined with incredible mature cypress and pecan trees, providing a shaded canopy over the river. During downtime the property is centrally located making all needs easily accessible. Within a short 20-minute drive you will be able to enjoy everything Concan has to offer, a 30-mile drive to East to Hondo or West to Uvalde, and a little over an hour to San Antonio.
Wildlife: With larger low fence neighbors, including some irrigated farms, this supplies the native wildlife with abundant food. The ranch offers steady numbers of whitetail, axis, dove, turkey, and hogs. The river bottom provides an ample amount of food and water to keep nature grounded on the ranch.
Improvements: Stepping back in time, this ranch has a 2100 sqft rock house constructed between 1875 and 1876. The foundation stone’s surfaces were cut to capture the “Jerusalem Stone” effect, shadowing between morning and evening sun. Some of the most notable people who lived here include Ettie (Rheiner) Garner. From the prominent fireplace to the high ceilings, this house has certainly stood the test of time. Located near the house’s vicinity are set of cattle working pens. There are also several barns: a three-bay metal barn, two bay metal barn and a smaller enclosed barn. The water is supplied by a well.
Vegetation: Throughout the ranch, you’ll find a nice south Texas mix of vegetation like Mesquite trees, Huisache trees, larger mature oak trees, and different brush species. Lining the river are large cypress, pecan, and oak trees.
Location: Take Hwy 90 west approximately one mile and the ranch will be on your right. The second entrance is off of county road 386, take it a mile west of Sabinal and the ranch will be on the left.
