House Pasture RanchHidalgo County
This historic and majestic ranch spans nearly 2,700 acres of land and offers the very best in south Texas wing shooting, as well as trophy Whitetails and exotics. Its rich, fertile sandy loam soils and numerous water sources, along with some strategically placed quail strips, create that perfect habitat for any quail aficionado while supporting vast numbers of wildlife and cattle.
Located nearby McAllen/Edinburg, in the center of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, this ranch has hosted many dignitaries over the years, both foreign and domestic.
Wildlife & Hunting: This high fenced property is also a successful big game commercial hunting ranch with a healthy population of Whitetails, Scimitar Oryx and Blackbucks. Being surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of farmland typically planted in grain sorghum, corn and sunflowers helps provide the property with fantastic quail, dove and turkey hunts. The Whitetail deer herd was enhanced by DMP pens, a Deer Management Program whereby native does are bred to scientifically bred bucks and released onto the ranch. This was in place for 8 years. In addition, some of the highest scoring Scimitar Oryx , Axis deer and Blackbuck antelope can be found here.
Improvements: The Main House is a custom built 9,500 square foot home with 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, 2 half baths, an office and a fitness room. Its large living room has mesquite wood floors, a one of a kind hand carved mesquite wood bar, pool table and fireplace. The kitchen has stainless appliances and opens up to the dining room. The long hallways have arched hand laid brick ceilings done by a local artisan. A 5 mile fully paved road leads directly to main headquarters from FM 681.
Hunting Lodge: The hunting lodge, which dates back to the 1930s, has been fully restored and is approximately 7,000 square feet. It includes 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, an office commercial grade kitchen, and a large living room with a bar and large dining room. Additional improvements include a 3/2 manager’s house, 3/2 for guides, a bunk house next to the lodge for overflow, 1/1 apartment and a covered outdoor cooking for grilling and watching football games after the big hunt.
